Nature always obeys certain basic principles. In the scheme of thing of nature, basic material of yarn is in the various shades of white. Thus while cotton Endi and artificial silk are white. Mulberry silk is cream white, Tassar silk is brownish white, while Jute is off white. All these fabrics display a basic fondency to return to whiteness with the passage of time.

Muga silk is, however, an outstanding exception to this rule. It is the only natural fabric that is not in the shades of white. Instead it has a pleasing golden colour in its original form. Further this goldenness never decay with time. Being a natural product, it also has an eco-friendly appeal. It possesses the highest tensile strength among all the natural textile fibers. Moisture regain capacity of Muga silk is high [ about 30%]. So, Muga fabrics are comfortable in both summer and wither wear. It can retain its crystalline, bad conductivity, hardness, golden colour and other qualities up to temperature of 200 C. The shine of the Muga fabrics increases with every wash in sharp contrast to the natural law of decay of shine in fabrics with time. It is the most durable silk among the other eco-friendly textile product.

Muga fabric has its potential use in dress as well as in furnishing material. Its durability also allows its imaginative use as canvas of a portrait or of a masterpiece of art and painting. So Muga is called the king of the silk.
